Transform Orthodontic Care continues its journey with the Norwood, Payneham and St Peters Council to promote art ‘spaces’ at our St Peters clinic in Adelaide.

We are pleased to introduce the fourth artist participating in our 2023 Art Exhibition program  – Lorna Nickels. She is a local artist living in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.

In the heart of Adelaide, resides Lorna,  an artist whose passion for colour, conversation, and the sheer joy of art is nothing short of infectious. Lorna, a multifaceted artist, has dedicated her life to bringing the magic of art to both creators and viewers alike. With a penchant for experimenting with various mediums, she humorously claims she’d paint just about anything if it would only stand still long enough.

Lorna’s love affair with art started in her formative years. She was drawn to the world of colours and shapes, where imagination knew no bounds. What began as a childhood fascination soon blossomed into a full-fledged artistic journey.

Her foray into face and body painting was a turning point. It’s a unique art form that allows her to transform the human canvas into a living work of art. Lorna’s exceptional talent didn’t go unnoticed, as she garnered several prestigious awards for her creative prowess in this domain. Her intricate designs and ability to breathe life into her subjects earned her recognition as a standout artist in the realm of face and body painting.

Lorna’s commitment to her craft goes beyond personal achievement. She believes in sharing her knowledge and expertise with others who aspire to make their mark in the world of art. This dedication led her to become an instructor for the Australian Body Art Awards and WEA Adult Learning, where she imparts her wisdom to eager learners.

Teaching is not just a profession for Lorna; it’s a way of giving back to the art community that has shaped her into the artist she is today. Her students benefit not only from her technical expertise but also from her infectious enthusiasm for creativity. She instils in them the belief that art is not just about the final product but the journey of self-discovery it offers.

Lorna’s artistry knows no bounds. While face and body painting remains her passion, she has ventured into other artistic avenues with equal gusto. Mural artistry is one of her signature forms of expression. Transforming blank walls into stunning visual narratives is a skill that requires not only artistic talent but also a deep understanding of space and design. Lorna’s murals not only beautify spaces but also tell stories, evoke emotions, and inspire those who encounter them.

Canvas art is another realm where Lorna’s creativity flourishes. Her paintings are a reflection of her inner world, a kaleidoscope of emotions, dreams, and experiences. Her use of colour and texture invites viewers to immerse themselves in the intricate details of her artwork, forging a connection between the creator and the observer.

Lorna’s journey as an artist in Adelaide is a testament to the transformative power of creativity. Her unwavering dedication to her craft, her willingness to explore diverse mediums, and her commitment to sharing her knowledge make her an invaluable presence in the world of art. Whether she’s painting intricate designs on a human canvas, adorning walls with vibrant murals, or captivating onlookers with chalk art, Lorna’s work celebrates the beauty and joy that art brings into our lives.

In a world often dominated by routine and conformity, artists like Lorna remind us of the boundless possibilities that come to life when imagination and passion collide. As she continues her artistic journey, Adelaide and the world beyond are undoubtedly in for more bursts of colour, discussion, and happiness, courtesy of Lorna’s creative genius.

Our no-commission policy ensures that all sales go directly to the artists, fostering a fair and mutually beneficial partnership. If you are interested in taking one of her paintings home, please feel free to reach out to our friendly team at the clinic.

Lorna’s exhibition will be on display until the end of September 2023, and you are warmly invited to immerse yourself in her art on Friday afternoons or by appointment at Transform Orthodontic Care’s St Peters clinic.
